The Call to a 21 Day Corporate Fasting & Praying Elpida HOPE Outreach Ministries, Inc. Corporate fast!

Our Prayer of Dedication for This Fast

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your presence, Your mercy, and Your power. As we embark on this 21-day fast, we dedicate our hearts, our bodies, and our prayers to You. Cleanse us, renew us, and awaken our spirits. Restore our lives, our families, our communities, and our nation. May this time of fasting and prayer draw us closer to You, break every chain, and bring forth revival. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!"

Fasting According to the Bible: A Powerful Tool for Personal, Community, and National Renewal.

Now, more than ever, we need the power of fasting to bring revival to our lives, our communities, and our nations. Fasting is an invitation to step into greater intimacy with God, to cry out for His mercy, and to witness supernatural breakthroughs. Whether you fast for a personal breakthrough, a community-wide revival, or the healing of a nation, fasting is a spiritual weapon that can shift the course of history—just as it did in the Bible.

Along with fasting, we must pray fervently, because prayer fuels our fasting with faith and expectation. As James 5:16 declares, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” When we fast and pray, we invite God to move in ways beyond our understanding.

Will you take the call to fast? Will you seek God with all your heart and believe for transformation? The time is now!

Why Fast? The Biblical Purpose of Fasting

Fasting is one of the most powerful spiritual disciplines found in the Bible, a sacred practice that deepens our relationship with God, sharpens our spiritual focus, and leads to transformation. It is not just about abstaining from food—it is about seeking God with greater intensity, humbling ourselves, and positioning our hearts for breakthrough. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, fasting has played a significant role in personal revival, community repentance, and even national restoration.

Fasting is a profound act of worship, a way of expressing our dependence on God. The Bible shows many reasons to fast, including:

  1. Seeking God’s Guidance and Wisdom – When faced with difficult decisions, biblical figures fasted to seek divine direction. In Acts 13:2-3, the early church fasted before sending out Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journey.

  2. Repentance and Revival – Fasting is often connected to repentance and turning back to God. In Joel 2:12, the Lord calls His people to return to Him with fasting and weeping. In Jonah 3:5-10, even the wicked city of Nineveh fasted in repentance, and God spared them from judgment.

  3. Deliverance and Protection – Queen Esther and the Jewish people fasted for three days, asking for God’s intervention before she approached the king to save her people (Esther 4:16).

  4. Interceding for a Nation – The prophet Daniel fasted and prayed for the sins of his people, pleading for God's mercy over Israel (Daniel 9:3-5). Today, nations can still turn to fasting to seek healing, peace, and restoration.

  5. Breaking Strongholds and Spiritual Warfare – Jesus Himself declared, "This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting" (Mark 9:29), emphasizing fasting’s power over demonic oppression and spiritual bondage.

  6. Drawing Closer to God – In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus fasted for 40 days before beginning His public ministry, demonstrating that fasting aligns us with God’s will and strengthens us spiritually.

Fasting for Personal, Community, and National Renewal:

  • Personal Needs – You may fast for breakthrough in your spiritual life, healing, deliverance from sin, wisdom in making decisions, or a fresh outpouring of God’s presence in your life.

  • Community Revival – Churches and local communities can fast together, asking God for renewal, the salvation of loved ones, or divine intervention in difficult circumstances.

  • National Healing and Repentance – The Bible is clear that when nations humble themselves, fast, and seek God’s face, He hears from heaven and brings healing (2 Chronicles 7:14). Fasting for a nation can cover areas like justice, peace, righteous leadership, and spiritual revival.

Ways to Fast: How Can You Participate?

The Bible does not prescribe only one way to fast; instead, different types of fasting can be undertaken based on spiritual needs and physical abilities:

  1. Complete Fast – Abstaining from all food and drinking only water or juice, much like Jesus' 40-day fast in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-2).

  2. Partial Fast (Daniel Fast) – Based on Daniel 10:2-3, this fast involves eating only vegetables, fruits, and water, avoiding meats, sweets, and processed foods.

  3. Intermittent Fasting – Fasting for specific hours of the day (e.g., from sunrise to sunset) while dedicating that time to prayer and worship.

  4. Corporate or Community Fasting (Which Elpida HOPE Outreach is doing starting 2/10/25) – Churches or groups of believers unite in fasting for revival, breakthroughs, or national healing, just as Jehoshaphat called all of Judah to fast in 2 Chronicles 20:3.

  5. Social Media/Entertainment Fast – While not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, abstaining from distractions such as TV, social media, and entertainment can help refocus our hearts on God.
